Vietnam veterans hi-lite KCC forum

On Wednesday, five local veterans of the Vietnam War will speak at a special forum at Kankakee Community College.

The free event is set for 6 p.m. in Room D124. It is part of the Lifelong Learning Institute series at KCC and is open to the public. The panel includes both men who directly served in combat and those who have been active in helping other veterans.

The veterans will give their recollections in a panel discussion. Speakers taking part in talks include: Barry Baron, Stan;ey Stam, John Fulton, Roger Bean and Jim Wasser.

At the conclusion of the discussion, there will be a short presentation on those who served from Kankakee County who did not come home.

The moving Vietnam Wall, a replica of the memorial in Washington, was set up in Watseka recently and visited Kankakee County in 2001. A permanent memorial has been placed at Perry Farm in Bourbonnais. There are 30 local names on the wall, 27 men who were killed in action and three others who officially were listed as missing in action.
