31-year-old Joshua Hatten of Douglas County will be arraigned today in Ford County Court for aggravated vehicular hijacking, attempted aggravated vehicular hijacking, attempted vehicular hijacking,and burglary.
Hatten is also facing aggravated battery, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident in a series of attempted carjackings December 19 in Paxton.
The Ford County State’s Attorney’s office filed 11 felony charges against Hatten. He allegedly tried hijacking several vehicles after fleeing the scene of a traffic accident in downtown Paxton.
In a prepared news release, State's Attorney Andre Killian said, "The brazen manner in which Mr. Hatten committed the alleged offenses is outrageous, and individuals need to know that if they commit these types of acts in Ford County, they will be caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law."
Hatten remains at the Ford County Jail in Paxton on Thursday. His bond was set at $300,000.
