The Zion Missionary Baptist Church is today’s setting for Kankakee’s Martin Luther King Jr. church service. The 10 am service does not include a Breakfast this year, due to the COVID pandemic.
The annual scholarships were handed out over the weekend. Virtual celebrations are on the agenda because of the need to social distance, according to organizer Pat Polk.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee in Danville hosts its annual activities honoring the slain civil rights leader today (Monday 1/18). There will be no motorcade/parade or banquet this year, canceled due to the pandemic.

The public not allowed to attend due to COVID. But the public is invited to listen to a livestream of the service through a link on the St. James United Methodist Church website.
