VISIT KANKAKEE COUNTY APPOINTS ANGELINA GEAR AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Visit Kankakee County, the region’s destination marketing organization, is announcing the appointment of Angelina Gear as Executive Director.  Gear has served as Interim Executive Director since December  (2025), providing continuity and leadership during a period of organizational transition. Her appointment as Executive Director reflects the Board of Directors’ confidence in her experience, vision, and commitment to advancing tourism and economic development throughout Kankakee County.

Prior to her interim appointment, Gear served as Visit Kankakee County’s Sales and Marketing Manager for more than three years, where she played a key role in developing destination marketing strategies, strengthening partnerships with municipalities and local businesses, and elevating the county’s visibility across regional and state tourism markets.
After spending more than fifteen years away in locations that included Missouri, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and Texas, Gear returned to Kankakee County with a renewed appreciation for the region she calls home.

“Like Angelina, I grew up in Kankakee County and moved away for a period before returning home,” said Visit Kankakee County board president Dave Baron. “While away, you come to identify what is truly special about this place, and I believe the experience gives Angelina the right perspective to showcase what we have and attract even more people here.”

Angelina’s passion for this community continues to shape her work, with a focus on collaboration, authentic storytelling, and a county-wide approach that highlights the unique
character of each municipality.

“I’m honored to continue serving Visit Kankakee County in this role,” said Gear. “I look forward to building on the strong foundation already in place and working alongside our municipal partners, local businesses, and community leaders to showcase all that makes Kankakee County a great place to visit, live, and do business.”
