A candidate forum at the Civic Auditorium in Kankakee (Thursday evening) featured State Rep. Lindsay Parkhurst and Lisa Dugan. The two are seeking the Illinois House seat in the 79th District in November’s election.

The Republican Parkhurst and Democrat Dugan have exchanged barbs in political mailings over the past several weeks. The two women are supported financially by state political leaders.

The budget stalemate over two years, and its effect on operations of state social services, has been a focal point in the campaign.

Parkhurst has held the post the last two years. Dugan served the area 10 years before not seeking re-election.

The two candidates meet again on stage at KCC’s Auditorium October 3rd. The public is invited to the 7 pm event.
