The City of Watseka begins its recently-approved 5-cent per gallon gas tax today (Thursday).  Despite concerns expressed about driving local business elsewhere, the City Council voted for the tax to generate needed monies for road improvements.  Mayor John Allhands said the idea was discussed to raise the funds needed for road improvements. The mayor said he hopes the tax can be reviewed annually.
