Watseka Boy Scout pursues ‘Eagle Scout’ award by helping troops

A 17-year-old Beaverville Boy Scout is reaching out to earn his Eagle Scout recognition. Gabe Emerson wants to help the military by donating Christmas Care Packages. And your help would be appreciated.

The Donovan High School senior wants to make Christmas a little better for military comrades. Gabe’s Christmas Care project would help toward his efforts to earn that Eagle Scout merit badge. His “Operation Chaos – Christmas Care Package Drive” has been set up to collect hygiene and snack items to put together travel size kits for up to 70 military personnel. Several collection sites have been arranged for the public to donate items. Items will be collected thru December 5.

(Donation sites include: the Watseka Public Library, Donovan High School, Kankakee Community College, Iroquois Farmers State Bank at Beaverville, also at Premium Specialties in Bradley).

Monetary donations are welcome too. Mail checks to Boy Scout Troop 188… P.O. Box 95… Beaverville, IL.

The Care packages will be mailed to Company C, 1st Battalion of the 178th Infantry Regiment, 33rd Brigade Combat Team out of Kankakee. The b rigade is stationed in Afghanistan.
