Watseka ‘Cops for Kids’ reaches out to 10 families at T-Giving

Watseka Police like being part of the community. And reaching out – as friends—is what it’s all about.

Members of the local police department look forward to their annual Shop-with-a-Cop program benefitting local young people. That’s coming up next month.

But last evening, WGFA News did a ride-along, as members of the city’s finest reached out to 10 families delivering a Thanksgiving meal. It was in cooperation with Berkots Super Foods, according to WPD Chief Jeremy Douglas......

Chief Douglas also welcomes donations from the community businesses to support Cops for Kids.

Officers John Lee Hall and Ryan Garfield find the giving-back program very rewarding.........

Recipients of the T-Giving Meals were surprised by the knock at the door from the WPD, but also so appreciative for the holiday gift.........

Patrolman Garfield said it's nice to mingle with the community and show the officers are real-people too.......
