Watseka firm wins bid for new community center in Ludlow

J&J General Contracting of Watseka will oversee construction of a new building in the Champaign County town of Ludlow.

J&J Contracting was the lowest bidder of 10 firms and will build a new community center. The bid was for $328,500.

The Ludlow Board approved the bid on a 3-2 vote. A target date for completion of the construction is mid-September.

An arsonist destroyed the Ludlow Community Center last year. 28-year-old Wayne Largent was sentenced to 30 years in prison for torching the community center, which also housed the Ludlow Police Station. Largest was led to believe evidence against him linked to a crime was stored inside the police station and wanted to destroy it.
