One person was treated for minor burns to the hands (Tuesday) following a house fire in the 600-block of E. Mulberry Street in Watseka. Fire Chief Ken Baier (Buyer) reported firemen were called just after Noon. There was heavy heat and smoke damage throughout the house, up to 75% damage inside the structure. The cause was determined to have been a minor playing with a candle and rubbing-alcohol in a bedroom. Chief Baier called it accidental misuse of flammable products.

Three occupants and a family pet were displaced. Watseka and Crescent City Fire and Riverside Ambulance answered the call.
