Watseka plans grant help for flood victims

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is winding up its Disaster Assistance visits in Iroquois and Grundy County today (Thursday). Representatives are at Watseka City hall and the Coal City Library again from 9 am 'til 4 pm.

The SBA help is still available online at www.sba.gov/disaster or by calling 800-659-2955. The application process for low-interest loans can still be completed on your own thru November 2nd.

SBA Rep Reece Strong said up to 20 people have visited the Disaster Shop at City Hall over the last week.

Meanwhile, the city of Watseka is working up its application process to provide grant help for flood victims. The grants will assist in rebuilding or demolition and help keep property sites on the local tax rolls.

Letters have been mailed to property owners that either raise their homes or demolish the structure. The grant is for those homes with 50% or more damage from flooding.
