A welfare check at a Watseka residence led to the arrest of 28-year-old Paris Johnson early Sunday. Police officers report they were threatened when responding to a report of a woman having been battered by Johnson. Officers went to the 400-block of W. Hickory Court when Johnson allegedly threatened officers. A second police dispatch, by a neighbor, informed police that Johnson had battered the woman and barricaded himself in the home.
Assisted by Iroquois County Sheriff's deputies, entry was made to the home where Johnson was placed in custody for Aggravated Domestic Battery, Kidnapping, and Resisting & Obstructing arrest.
