Complaints about trespassers keeps Watseka Police on the run. Bobbie J. Perez has found herself in cuffs one too many times in recent weeks. And she found herself engaging with city officers again this week, arrested twice in two days. City Officers were dispatched Tuesday to the 100-block of N 3rd Street on a report of trespassers sleeping on private property. Suspects Perez and Kyle Gillespie were ordered to vacate the property but refused. Police arrested Perez and Gillespie for criminal trespass to property.
Monday, police were sent to the 400-block of E Mulberry Street for reports of a suspicious person looking into vehicles and houses. Officers identified Bobbie Perez. She was also a suspect in a reported burglary earlier in the day at a business on N 3rd Street. When questioned, she admitted entering the business thru an unlocked door with no employees present, and taking items from the store. Perez was charged with burglary.
Watseka Polcie also reported a male subject found sleeping under a pavilion on N 6th Street Monday. Edward Handy was identified as having an outstanding warrant in Champaign County for aggravated battery, resisting arrest, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
