Homecoming Week in Watseka and the annual Athletic Inspiration Awards will be presented this weekend.  The 2021 Awards are part of the WCHS Alumni Reunion & Banquet. 

The recipients this year include the dominant 1974 Watseka Warriors Football Team and the 95-76 Warriors Basketball Team.  Both squads were among the best in the Wauseca Conference.   Several individuals earned post-season honors.

The Warriors football team qualified for the post-seaosn playoffs as undefeated conference champions (6-0).  The team outscored the league 204-81.  Six Warriors were touted as First team All-Conference position players.  The defense was so dominant, not a single point was allowed during 3rd quarter action all season.  The Warriors were under the direction of Hall of Fame Coach Gordon McKenzie.

The 75-76 basketball Warriors, under the guidance of Coach Keith Baldwin, put together another outstanding season following up on a 1974-75 season that finished 3rd in the State of Illinois Class A tournament.  The 75-76 team became the third consecutive Baldwin-coached team to reach the Sweet 16.  The team finished 27-4.
