It was "America's 250th Anniversary" Saturday. And that was theme for the July 4th Independence Day parade in Watseka. Sixty-plus entries were entered in the event that began and ended in Legion Park, where the Legion Post 23 hosted a Family Day of community fun. The Legion, City of Watseka, Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Watseka Festival Committee joined for a day of fun and anniversary celebration.
The Committee that brought the Gold Star Veterans Monument to Legion Park served as the parade's grand marshal.
The Watseka Public Library was recognized as the parade entry Best Use of Theme award winner - America's 250th Anniversary.
Best Decorated Emergency Vehicle was the Crescent-Iroquois Fire Department.
First Trust & Savings Bank earned the Best Walking Unit award. Best Children's Unit was the Woodworth Kountry Klovers 4-H Club. The Best Commercial Entry was the Watseka FFA. Life Church presented the Best Religious Entry. Best Farm Entry was LG Farms.
