Heavy rain is possible this weekend. That could play with plans for the long July 4th holiday period. Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely in parts of central-Illinois.

The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement. A storm system will center over the Central Plains this weekend, with a near stationary front extending east into Central and Southern Illinois. The rain is possible by midday Saturday. The NWS says 2-4 inches is possible in some areas.

There's the potential for flash flooding and water levels to rise.
