GREAT WEATHER, OUTSTANDING ENTERTAINMENT MADE FOR SUCCESSFUL 2018 ILLINOIS STATE FAIR
Some parts of Illinois had been extremely dry. But not anymore. Rainfall has been plentiful and more is on the way.
Showers Friday morning and all day, and last night still continuing today (Sat). Flood watches/warnings are in place. The remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon have settled over the Midwest, bringing a soaking to the Illiana area.
Many of the scheduled weekend events have been cancelled or postponed. The Cornjerker Classic at Hoopeston is postponed. The Church Carnival at the First United Methodist Church in Watseka is also postponed until next Saturday 9/15).
If you have scheduled-plans...you might want to check with organizers.........
As always, we stress safety when it comes to flooded roadways.
Excellent weather conditions, an outstanding Grandstand lineup, and an increase in vendor sales made for another successful year at the Illinois State Fair.
Preliminary estimates show a total of 369,144 fairgoers passed through the gates for the 2018 fair, bringing in $1,598,626 in admission and parking revenue during the fair’s 11-day run. Attendance was down just eight percent compared to 2017’s outstanding fair attendance numbers.
