Weather-related mishaps messes up traffic

Illinois State Police reported crashes with injuries on area interstates Wednesday and last night. Today, scattered slippery roads are still a problem. Motorists need to allow extra time and slow it down.

Trooper Tracy Lillard said officers were on the scene of accidents on Interstate 57 near Rantoul and Interstate 74 eastbound on the east side of Danville. Lanes were blocked.
State police reported eastbound traffic on Interstate 74 at Bowman Avenue in Danville was being rerouted about 9 pm last night due to a serious injury crash.

Three major interstates were experiencing icing in several areas, especially on bridge decks. Champaign and Vermilion counties appeared to be the problem areas.

Drivers are reminded to move over and slow down for emergency vehicles.

The Carroll County, IN Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a 19-year-old woman and an infant were injured on County Road 100 North Wednesday night.

Deputies are still investigating what happened, but the two may have been hit by a car. It appears they were out of their own vehicle at the time.
