Wedding sentenced to 55 years for triple-homicide in Newton County

A 2016 triple murder in Newton County, IN brings a 55-year prison term for 25-year-old Sebastian Wedding. Superior Court Judge Daniel Molter sentenced Wedding Monday for his role in the three murders that took place in Sumava Resorts.

As part of a plea agreement, Wedding pleaded guilty to playing a role in the murders.

It was last August when law enforcement was called to the northern part of the county to find three people dead --- Justin Babbs, Kimberly Spears and Richard Thomas.

All three had died as a result of multiple stab wounds. Wedding and Derrick Cardosi were arrested in connection with the stabbings.

Cardosi will face trial in January.

In the courtroom Monday, several people offered testimony. Wedding himself, was remorseful for the killings, which included one of his best friends.

Wedding was facing a maximum 60-years. Judge Molter said he stayed away from the maximum sentence due to a confession letter Wedding wrote, convincing the court that he not want this tragedy to happen.
