Weekend shootings in Champaign, Kankakee

               --  Two, Killed, two wounded in Champaign  --

Two 18-year-olds were killed and two other individuals wounded in gunfire early Sunday in Champaign.  Police are asking anyone with video surveillance in the area of the crime to contact investigators.  Call 217-351-4545  or call CrimeStoppers 217-373-8477.

The Champaign County Coroner's Office identifies the victims as George Rodgers and Daniyiah Staple.  The two 18-year-olds were pronounced dead at Carle Hospital in Urbana.

A 15-year-old boy and a 25-year-old woman were injured. Police responded to an apartment complex where gunfire erupted. 

          Kankakee City Police report six people shot during a birthday party. --

In a press release, Kankakee Police Chief Chris Kidwell reports an altercation between some juveniles had adults getting involved. Police said there was more than one shooter. One person was critically injured and transported to a Chicago hospital.  Five others had non life-threatening injuries. Multiple gunshots were reported on North Hobbie Avenue just before midnight Friday.
