Weekend Snow snarls traffic, slick roads

Several inches of wet, heavy snow over the weekend has left roads snow-packed and slick. After the heavy snow fell, a mix of freezing rain and snow coated area roads again. IDOT is reporting very slick conditions. Drivers need to allow more time and slow it down.

For much of central-Illinois and Indiana…..snowfall reports vary; 5-6 and even seven inches in parts of Iroquois County. Ashkum reports 6 plus inches, Sheldon and Martinton were in excess of six inches. Watseka reporting six-plus inches.  Kankakee County had several reports….The Bonfield, Limestone and Reddick areas had 6-7 inches, so did Bourbonnais. Peotone reports areas with 13 inches. Rensselaer, IN reports 6-8 inches, Morocco reported 6 inches.
Across parts of Grundy, Will and Northern Livingston County there was 5-7 inches on the ground. Joliet also had reports of 5 plus.

The freezing rain and additional snow has Monday morning travel conditions very slick.
