Wells-Armstrong, Curtis emerge winners in Kankakee Primary

The City of Kankakee Primery Election (Tuesday) set the stage for the April 6 Municipal Election.  Incumbent Mayor Chasity Wells-Armstrong won the Democratic Primary, fighting off a challenge from Kankakee school board member Angela Shea, 59% to 41%.  The Mayor will now face Republican Chris Curtis April 6.  Curtis was an overwhelming winner over Park District member J.J. Hollis, 82-17 percent.

Other contested races on the Democratic ballot included aldermanic races in the 2nd and 6th Wards and for City Clerk.

Stacy Gall defeated LaShaan Lott for City Clerk.  The 2nd WQard race goes to David Baron over Lisa Richardson.  The 6th Ward winner was Kelly Johnson of Yaquantis Adams..  Republicans are expected to put ip candidates for the April Election.
