Will County crash kills New Lenox man

A 51-year-old New Lenox man died early Saturday after his vehicle overturned near Schoolhouse road in Manhattan Township, in Will County.

The Will County Coroner's office reported Richard W. Schroeder was pronounced dead just after 3 am at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.

An autopsy determined Schroeder died from multiple injuries received in the crash.

Will County sheriff's police determined that Schroeder was westbound when he lost control of the vehicle and drove off the road. The vehicle then hit a ditch, which caused the vehicle to overturn. He was ejected and was trapped underneath.

Police did not know whether alcohol was a factor in the crash, pending a toxicology report.
