Wilson Industrial Sales Plans Expansion in Rensselaer

Wilson Industrial Sales Co. Inc., which provides chemicals and fertilizer to customers in the agricultural and industrial markets, will relocate an operation in Newton County to a 10,000-square-foot facility in Jasper County.

Building construction already has started and the company plans to invest $2.2 million in the project, according to the state's economic development agency.

Wilson Industrial Sales employs 35 people in Northwest Indiana and it has started hiring additional logistics, administrative and sales associates.

Thomas and Richard Wilson founded the company in 1960 as a retailer of fertilizer and expanded into industrial chemicals in 1987. Wilson Industrial Sales serves manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, catalysts, paper, steel, aluminum extrusions, fertilizer and soap. Other industries served include the aluminum anodizing industry, the leather tanning industry and producers of chemicals, copper, lead and zinc.

Wilson Industrial Sales delivers more than 300,000 tons of products annually to customers in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The company anticipates growing to supply 500,000 tons of products each year by 2014.

The IEDC offered the company up to $130,000 in conditional tax credits based on its job creation plans. The Jasper County Council approved additional tax abatement.
