Wind Energy Resolution seeks some teeth in pending legislation

The Iroquois County Board’s Policy & Procedure Committee got some help from the full Board (Tuesday) in passing a Resolution to oppose proposed legislation in Springfield concerning governing wind farm operations.

SB 602 and HB 804 attempts to wrestle away any authority from county government when it comes to zoning control of wind farms.

The Resolution opposes the State control of such operations. The County Board is not in favor of wind farm zoning being taken from the local officials. The county board believes locals have the knowledge to take control of local needs, including protecting the health, safety and welfare of citizens.

It was pointed out, the Illinois Farm Bureau, the United Counties Council of Illinois and others oppose the State control.
