Winter Advisory issued; more snow expected

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Iroquois and Ford County and much of Central Illinois until noon today (Monday).

NWS said light to moderate snow will fall across the area into early Monday morning with accumulations of two to three inches, with isolated amounts of up to four inches north of Interstate 74.

The system will also usher in bitterly cold wind chills that will continue into early Tuesday.

A Wind Chill Advisory will be in effect from 6 pm Monday until noon Tuesday. Wind chill values could drop to as low as 18-below overnight Monday.

Motorists were dealing with slippery snow-packed roads and reduced visibility. Some Indiana school districts are closed due the weather. Illinois schools are observing Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
