A Winter Storm Watch could make for dangerous driving conditions. The 'Watch" begins at 9 pm today and runs thru at least Wednesday afternoon. The NWS has this as heavy snow, accumulations 4 - 6 inches. Higher amounts are possible. This will include central, east-central and southeast Illinois and much of northwest Indiana. Motorists should expect dangerous road conditions.
The winter storm will impact parts of Illinois and the northwest areas of Indiana late Tuesday night into Wednesday with between 2 and 9 inches of snow. The National Weather Service reports heavy snow accumulation appears most likely east of Interstate 55. Snow totals could create driving disruptions and possible road closures. Officials recommend having your vehicle emergency kits ready, including having a full tank of gas.
