Hardware stores and other fix-it-up shops are reporting some busy times as homeowners are now feeling the effects of last week's snowfall and arctic temperatures. The weather blindsided many of us in Illinois and Indiana.

The weather went from many people using space heaters to using sump pumps and roof repair materials. Pot-holes have become an extreme problem too. Auto repair shops are reporting numerous tire and rim damage and also front-end problems on vehicles.

Flood related devices are also common purchases. The melting snow has caused concern for possible flooding.
