A Beecher mother, who was pregnant, and her 2-year-old son died in a two-vehicle crash that also critically injured her two older sons Monday morning near Beecher.

29-year-old Lindsey Schmidt was four months pregnant, according to family members. Schmidt and her son, Caleb, were pronounced dead at the scene at 10:35 a.m.

The driver of a pick-up truck, who allegedly drove through a stop sign on East Corning Road, was not identified. Will County Sheriff's Police said the driver was treated for injuries at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights.

Schmidt was northbound on South Yates Avenue when the truck went through the intersection at about 8:40 a.m. The collision forced the two vehicles into a nearby field.
Schmidt's two other sons, ages four and six, were transported to St. Margaret's Hospital in Indiana where they are listed in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation. No charges had been filed as of Monday afternoon.
