Woman found dead with snake around her neck

Indiana State Police report a woman was found dead with a snake wrapped around her neck. Police said the woman was in a building described as a “reptile home.”

This story comes from Benton County. Sheriff Don Munson found 36-year-old Laura Hurst of Battle Ground in the Oxford home. An 8-foot Python was around her neck. The building is near where Munson lives. Medics arrived and attempted life-saving measures on Hurst but were unsuccessful. State police said it appeared the woman was "killed by a reptile." About 140 snakes were kept in the home.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday to determine the official cause of death.
