Christmas Night incident on I-65

Indiana State Troopers encountered another wrong-way driver on I-65. But the Lowell Post reports fortunately, this time there wasn’t a head-on crash. An Indianapolis man was arrested for reckless driving and operating while intoxicated. 28-year-old Marcus Cooper-Longoria drove about 9-miles the wrong-way before his vehicle was stopped in Newton County.

It was just after midnight when a trooper responded to reports of a wrong-way driver northbound near the Lowell exit. After the 9-mile run, the vehicle was stopped. Police report the driver said he observed the oncoming traffic but didn’t think anything of it because he was tired.

The trained-trooper recognized impaired driving indicators. Longoria was taken to the Newton County Jail. Jasper County Sheriff’s Police assisted State Police.
