Illini's David Mirkovic Undergoes Foot Surgery

The Fighting Illini Men's Basketball program announced that sophomore forward David Mirkovic underwent successful surgery today in Indianapolis after suffering a left foot injury during a team workout in Champaign on July 31. He is expected to make a full recovery but the team did not give a timeline for his return.

However, the Field of 68's Jeff Goodman says Mirkovic will be out six to eight weeks according to his sources. This would have him returning about a month before the season starts.

Mirkovic is a key returner from last year's Final Four team where he averaged 13.3 points per game, 8.8 rebounds per game, and 2.6 assists per game in his freshman season.
