KENTLAND – Sam Thomas' 3-yard touchdown run capped a back-and-forth fourth quarter for the visiting Spartans.
South Newton jumped out to a 21-0 lead on two 4-yard touchdown runs by Trevor Lowe and Skylar Sanders' 45-yard dash. Jonno Bigger fueled a 21-0 run by North Newton with a 30-yard touchdown run and two TD passes. Sanders gave the Rebels a 28-21 halftime lead with his 17-yard reception from John Dafcik.
Dafcik threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter and Bigger finished with four TD passes.

With his club down 21-0 after 1 quarter, Bigger led a furious comeback, finishing 27 of 38 passing for 368 yards, including 3 TD passes, and 2 TD runs, as N. Newton won a wild season opener in Kentland over rival S. Newton, 48-42.
