Veterans Day includes Parade, Open House, Appreciation B-fast, military salutes

Veterans Day is today (Mon). And we’ve invited so many related organizations to let us know what their plans are to celebrate and salute the services our military heroes have provided.

A much-deserved Appreciation Breakfast is being served in Cissna Park. All veterans and their spouses are welcome at the American Legion Hall Post 527. The Legion and the Princess Wach-e-kee Chapter of the NSDAR sponsor today’s gathering.

Onarga Legion Post 551 is hosting a ceremony at Railroad Park at 11 am.  The Cissna Park Color Guard is also conducting a program at the Rankin War Memorial at 11 am.

The Kankakee County Veteran's Council invites the public to its 10:15 am program at the Countgy Historical Museum on South 8th Avenue.  Veteran's Assistance Commission Chairman Stanley Olenjack is the Master of Ceremonies.  U. S. Army Veteran, Kenneth Brooks is the featured speaker.  He's a decorated Vietnam Veteran.

Other flag-bearing events are scheduled. Danville’s VA is hosting a first-ever parade at the VA campus. It steps off at 10 am.  Parking is suggested at the DACC parking lot.
