The Kankakee County Sheriff's Office is still trying to determine what caused an ATV to crash Sunday morning, killing one man and injuring another.

24-year-old Donald E. Brozek was killed and his passenger, 23-year-old Tyler J. Deany was injured after the ATV they were riding west of Herscher crashed into a culvert. Both men were not wearing helmets.

The ATV left the road around 3:15 am on 15000W Road near 5000S Road.

County Coroner Bob Gessner said Brozek left the roadway and appears to have hit a telephone pole.

Deany was airlifted to a hospital. His condition was not reported this morning.
