American Legion Post 527 at Cissna Park welcomes the public to its Wreaths Across America Program Saturday. The 11 am event is at the east side of the park in Cissna Park, near the Memorial Cross. A moment of silence will be followed by remarks from Legion Commander Roger Lebeck and then a memorial wreath will be layed. Branches of the military will be recognized. Volunteers will then visit and lay wreaths at eight area cemeteries where 410 veterans are buried.
The wreath-laying event takes place at the eight cemeteries the Legion honors -- Amity, Apostolic, Ash Grove, Cissna Park, Pitch In, Schwer, St. Paul's Woodworth (Trinity) and also Rankin.
The Legion will be joined by FFA students, the American Legion Color Guard, Drill Team and The Sons of the American Legion.
The VA National Cemetery at Danville is also hosting its Wreaths Across America Program at 11 am Saturday.
