The Kankakee City Council Monday night approved a vehicle sticker fee. The move means citizens will pay $40 dollar per year, per vehicle. It's an effort to increase revenue following the loss of the sales tax sharing program.
Debate about the issue brought remarks from 7th Ward aldermen Carl Brown and Fred Tetter. Tetter said other program cuts need to be explored before asking citizens to balance the budget on their backs. Brown said there's not much that can be done to make up the lost revenue.
