Two Benton County, IN men have been arrested for Arson and Murder in connection to a house fire in Fowler last week. The fire at 103 North Polk Street claimed the life of 60-year-old Daniel C. Riegle. Riegle lived at the single-story house.
42-year-old Duane Muse and 43-year-old Rhett Allen Martin, both who lived at 307 W. 4th Street in Fowler, are jailed on charges of Arson and Murder. Trooper Detectives out of the Indiana State Police Post at Lafayette, Indiana State Fire Marshall’s Office, Fowler Police Department, Benton County Coroner’s Office and the Benton County Prosecutor’s Office have worked diligently over the last week to arrest Muse and Martin. The investigation continues. Authorities are not releasing any further information about the case. Riegle was positively identified by the Coroner’s Office.
It was last Friday morning when emergency responders were alerted to a structure fire at the Polk Street location. A volunteer firemen came across the flames and called 9-1-1 about 7:50 am. The body of Riegle was discovered inside the home as firemen put out the fire. Efforts to administer life-saving first aid were unsuccessful. Fowler Police initiated the investigation then called the State Fire Marshall and State Police for assistance.
