Riverside Healthcare officials (Tuesday) unveiled the latest in interventional suites now offered on the Kankakee campus. The suites are first of their kind in Illinois. Riverside CEO Phil Kambic said the construction has been underway and the new suites will be operational by the end of the month. Several medical procedures will be available for treatment.

Kambic says Riverside officials are always thinking about the best way to serve the community. These suites, he said, will enable patients to stay here at home rather than travel to unfamiliar hospitals. The suites will help keep people close to home, which is better for the family too.

Kambic says the new labs are just the first phase of a multi-phase renovation of the cath lab area of the hospital. Philanthropic efforts helped raise $3.4 million to cover some of the $11-million cost. Renovation work continues.
