22-year-old Isaiah Nelson of Watseka was identified as the stabbing victim who died at Iroquois Memorial Hospital Thursday following an altercation on E. Oak Street. Watseka Police were still investigating the incident while the Iroquois County State's Attorney's Office reviewed the case. Meanwhile, A Kankakee man was arrested for the fatal stabbing.
23-year-old Andre Maiden of Kankakee was jailed for the death of Nelson. Police were called to the 100 block of East Oak Street in Watseka at 4:14 p.m. There they found Nelson with a stab wound to the neck, according to a news release from the Watseka Police Department. Nelson was taken by Riverside ambulance to Iroquois Memorial Hospital, where he died. Iroquois County Coroner Bill Cheatum scheduled an autopsy.
Maiden was charged with aggravated battery. Involuntary manslaughter charges were being considered by the state's attorney. Maiden was due in court today (Friday).
