Illinois State Police report both lanes of Illinois Route 1 near Grant Park are flowing again after a late-night crash between two semis closed both lanes for about eight hours. Both drivers were injured, one seriously. The drivers were from Streamwood (IL) and Vincennes, IN.

Police reported one of the drivers was waiting to make a left turn onto Kankakee Road 12000 N when the trailer was hit from behind by the other semi. One of the freightliners flipped onto its side, blocking both lanes of travel. One of the drivers was airlifted to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn. The second driver was treated for minor injuries at Amita St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee. The crash happened about 11 pm.
