Watseka seeks input at public hearing for park improvement

Proposed improvements to enhance the use of Lakeview Park in Watseka are the subject of a public hearing Thursday, March 20.  A 5:30 pm meeting at City Hall welcomes residents and business input.  City officials need to solicit feedback on the cost and the public's interest in improvement to the park.

The Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development Grant (OSLAD) has been approved.  Watseka would benefit from $597, 625 in funding toward the $1,160, 250 total cost for the project.  Improvements at Lakeview Park could include a splash pad, sand volleyball courts, outdoor fitness equipment, an amphitheater, and conversion of the ice skate park into pickleball courts.  The City has the ability to perform work in-house to offset the cost of the project.

The $597,625 grant is already approved.  There's an April 22, 2025 deadline for the city to approve and sign the OSLAD agreement to secure the funds.

Watseka officials appreciate community involvement at the public hearing.
