Separate trial leading up her role in murder, attempted murder of Bradley police officers
In Kankakee County Court Friday, Circuit Judge Kathy Bradshaw-Elliott set a May 1 bench trial date for the woman facing felony charges for the shooting death of Bradley Police Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic and the wounding of Bradley Officer Tyler Bailey in 2021. This contempt of court case against Xandria Harris is ahead of her murder trial in September.
The Daily-Journal reports Harris' defense team agreed to have Judge Elliott hear the testimony involving a direct-contempt of court charge, whereby she refused to testify in the earlier trial of her then-boyfriend, Darius Sullivan --- whose now serving natural life.
Kankakee County State's Attorney Jim Rowe had offered Ms. Harris use-immunity for her testimony, not to be used against her in her own murder trial. The State took the liberty to try Harris for contempt, ahead of the September trial.
The 29-year-old Harris is facing murder and child endangerment charges in her upcoming September trial. Harris is accused of aiding Darius Sullivan, when he shot and killed Bradley Police Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic and seriously injured the now-retired Tyler Bailey.
