(Manteno Fest: Big Success)

Manteno’s Oktoberfest was a success – despite the stormy weather. Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sarah Marion says she was overwhelmed with the community response to Friday’s storms that took down exhibits and service-tents. Marion said this past weekend showed her that people truly care about the community and the festival. After organizers and community leaders held a special meeting Saturday morning to decide what was on tap in moving forward, several volunteers were already at work cleaning streets and assisting vendors. It was the consensus of all involved to rebuild and continue the fest.

Replacement tents were set up, vendors salvaged their exhibits, the carnival resumed operations, the lighted-parade went on…and everyone played their role. Marion and Manteno Mayor Tim Nugent said everybody stepped up. The Oktoberfest committee, Manteno and Bourbonnais Public Works, community folks all responded to make it a success !
