Ford County Emergency Management Agency Coordinator Terry Whitebird and Iroquois County EMA Coordinator Scott Anderson announced last Sunday the earlier-imposed burn bans had been lifted. The stormy weather, including high winds had prompted the county governments to restrict outside burning for sake of safety. The two emergency agencies had the support of their respective county boards to issue notice to stop any burning until further notice.
Anderson notes in a press release, "it's always difficult to put restrictions on our residents, especially during clean up from the winter. But the ban was issued due to dry, windy conditions. The safety of county residents and first responders always comes first."
Iroquois County Board Chairman Paul Ducat extends thank you to all residents who recognized and followed the ban. Ducat said it's about protecting residents and property, not to mention the lives of first responders.
