Ford, Vermilion Counties also post burn bans

The expected high winds Friday and Saturday are pushing officials into alert-mode. Countywide burn bans in neighboring Ford and Vermilion County are posted.  Citizens are avised no burning will be allowed, beginning at midnight tonight (Thursday) and extending until further notice. Until weather conditions improve, all citizens are asked to refrain from outside burning of any kind.

The NWS forecast calls for winds from 40 - 50 mph. 

In Iroquois County -- The Emergency Management Agency, the Eastern Illinois Mutual Aid Fire Association, and the Iroquois County Board join in informing the public of the Countywide Burn Ban. Illinois State Law gives fire chiefs the authority to issue a burn ban.  It also prohibits any use of fireworks.  Fire departments, by law, can impose fines for violations of the burn ban.  Fines can be imposed.  Cooperation is appreciated from all fire officials.

Vermilion County -- Emergency Management Agency officials are advised of southerly winds from 35 - 50 mph.  The County wind advisory will be enforced from 1 pm Friday thru 1 am Saturday.  Strong winds can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.  Extra caution is advised.
