Construction projects call for motorist safety

The road construction season is underway for the spring and summer season.  Warmer weather is expected next week, calling for steady progress on several of the construction projects.  Driver need to be aware of their surroundings and show some patience.

A Ford County detail is on Illinois Route 115.  Work crews are patching, milling and paving from East 1600 North Road to Route 9 in the Village of Roberts.  Iroquois Paving Corporation crews are also busy on the bridge deck replacement on the I-57 overpass at Buckley.

The Illinois Department of Transportation alerts drivers to bridge work carrying Illinois Route 1 and 17 across the Kankakee River at Momence.  There's also a bridge replacement for the structure carrying Route17 over the west branch of Horse Creek in Kankakee County.  The bridge is north of Union Hill.  Crews will maintain one lane of traffic.

A Livingston County bridge repair is underway east of Flanagan on Route 116.  A bridge is being replaced. Work crews are maintaining one lane of traffic with temporary signals.

In Champaign County -- the ramp from southbound I-57 to westbound I-74 is closed for a reported three weeks. A posted detour is in place.
