Onarga Woman fills County Board Vacancy

                  - Kathleen Perkinson brings land use development experience to District 2  -

A seven-month vacant seat on the Iroquois County Board has been filled. Kathleen Perkinson from the rural Onarga-Thawville area, was sworn-in (Tuesday ) at the County Board meeting. She fills the seat of the late Barb Offill, who passed away January 4 (2024).

Mrs. Perkinson’s appointment was approved by the full County Board. She had been recommended by the Republican Central Precinct Committee. Perkinson fills the vacant two-year seat thru November 30th. She will have to seek election in November (5th) to fulfill the 4-year term.

Perkinson said she's "excited to get involved", to bring some of her professional experience back home to Iroquois County.  A graduate of the University of Illinois, she's worked in land use development in Texas and California before returning to Iroquois County. She's employed in the banking industry in Onarga.  She's also a member of the Board of Directors at Iroquois Memorial Hospital.

Kathleen is a daughter-in-law to the late Russell Perkinson, a hog producer who was a long-time member of the Iroquois County Zoning Board of Appeals.
