A Watseka woman and her child escaped serious injury Sunday when a car was hit a train in the Village of Woodland. 31-year-old Jessica Kingdon and her 3-year-old child were treated for minor injuries at Carle Hospital in Urbana. Iroquois County Sheriff's Police responded to 2080 E and 1350 N Road. Police said Kingdon was attempting to make a westbound turn onto 1350 N and cross over a double set of railroad tracks. Kingdon didn't notice a southbound Union Pacific freight train which hit the car, pushing it into a west side ditch. No citations were issued.

Iroquois County deputies returned from the Cook County Jail with 27-year-old Christopher Short of Maywood. Short was wanted on an Iroquois County warrant for possession of a controlled substance.
A Pontiac man was also arrested by Iroquois County deputies. 40-year-old Garret Coffey was wanted on outstanding warrants in Ford and Kankakee County. He was awaiting extradition.
