A multi-vehicle accident sent 11 students to hospitals after three school buses were involved in a traffic accident. It happened this (Tuesday) morning on I-55 at Braidwood. Illinois State Police responded about 8:35 am. Preliminary information indicated the three buses were traveling northbound in the right lane as traffic slowed to a stop. The first bus was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of the second bus which then struck the rear of the 3rd Unit. Eleven children were transported to local area hospitals with minor injuries. No additional vehicles were involved. All remaining passengers were accounted for and returned to their school for release to their parents. All lanes have been re-opened. The first bus driver was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash.
